Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula is one of five famous Blue Zones in the world, where people tend to live longer and healthier lives enriched by community, cuisine, lifestyle and climate. The Blue Zone Tour will introduce you to some of the unique gems of this diverse region. Accompanied by experienced local guides, you will sample traditional and hearty Costa Rican cuisine, visit a sugar cane plantation and natural preserve. In the morning we will drive through the city of Santa Cruz, with stops at historical sites, followed by breakfast at a local favorite, Coopetortilla.

We will travel next to Hacienda El Viejo Wetlands, where you will take a boat safari on the Tempisque River, where you can catch glimpses of crocodiles, monkeys and exotic birds. Next you will  learn about the harvesting and processing of sugar cane, an important agricultural crop in Costa Rica, while sampling tortillas and other traditional foods.

And finally, the Rum Experience will teach you about the history and production of this magical liquor, complete with a tasting and the opportunity to infuse your own bottle! A hearty mid-afternoon lunch will be the last stop on our tour before returning you to your lodgings in time to catch the sunset.
